Pizza originated from a city in Naples, Italy, and was created by a baker named Raffale Esposito. It is the icon and national representative of Italian cuisine, and is now enjoyed by many around the globe.

With pizza’s popularity amongst the crowd, and flexibility of ingredients to choose from, this allowed Sufood to integrate various flavours and cultures together to create this signature dish. We wanted to challenge ourselves to go beyond the usual plain cheese, or vegetable-filled pizza many restaurant chains provide as a vegetarian option.

Our pizza is also star-shaped – an unusual shape for pizzas. Being the star dish of Sufood, we felt that it was only apt for it to take on a slightly different look and chose for it to be star-shaped to truly embody the star quality of the dish. With its six points, it’s also great for sharing amongst your friends and family!

2. Cream Cheese

Move over mozzarella, parmesan and cheddar cheese!

Cream cheese might seem like an unusual choice of cheese for pizzas, but with its tangy, sweet taste, it perfectly complements the savoury nature of our pizza.

Did you know that cream cheese originated from France?
It’s often used in pastries and desserts, and is favoured by many.

And in Sufood’s Star Pizza, it’s hidden in our crust as a pleasant surprise!

While most restaurant chains provide stuffed cheese crust, we’ve opted for a creamier and more luxurious option - cream cheese!

Enjoy the richness and fullness of cream cheese, accompanied by our crispy crust, leaving you longing for more!

So why not try something different from the usual mozzarella cheese and spice up your pizza with cream cheese?

3. Wasabi-tomato Sauce

Wasabi – the famous condiment paired with sushi rolls and sashimi platters.

Originating from Japan, wasabi was used as a way to kill bacteria and was paired with raw fish (or sushi in this case) to prevent food poisoning.

With its unique strong, spicy kick, it’s sure to awaken your senses!

You might be wondering – wasabi on pizza? Are you sure that’s such a good combination…?

Well, wasabi actually has many more combinations than just the good ol’ wasabi and sushi platter!

Wasabi has been adapted to create sauces and dips like:

  • Wasabi guac

  • Wasabi mayo (often used in poke bowls)

  • Wasabi salad dressing

  • Wasabi mashed potatoes

Still not that comfortable with wasabi?

Our Star Pizza uses a special combination of both wasabi and tomato sauce, to produce a delectable combination of flavours. With the sweet, sour taste of tomatoes and strong, spicy kick from wasabi, get ready for a combination you’ve never tasted before!

THE STAR OF SUFOOD

A star-shaped pizza, paired with cream cheese and wasabi-tomato sauce?

It might sound like a weird and unorthodox combination to most but as Sufood’s signature dish, it clearly signifies what Sufood stands for.

A fusion of cultures to produce a delicious, vegetarian dish that all can enjoy.

But how exactly do various cultures and ingredients come together for such a dish?

Read on to find out.

With a thin but crisp, tangy tomato-sauce base, followed by creamy and savoury mozzarella cheese, our Star Pizza has already met the basic requirements for a typical pizza.

With generous chunks of King Oyster Mushroom, the Star Pizza is brought to yet another level of flavour and texture. To top it off, we’ve added a sprinkle of seaweed to bring out the true Japanese-fusion flavour of the dish.

But that’s not all there is to this pizza.

Drizzled with wasabi sauce, it gives a hint of that familiar kick that instantly perks you up.

And the best part?

The rich, creamy cream cheese stuffing in our crust.

But while Sufood’s Star Pizza is packed with a plethora of ingredients, there are a few key components to this dish, namely:

  • Pizza

  • Cream cheese

  • Wasabi-tomato sauce

The above ingredients show the combination of flavours and cuisines used to create Sufood’s signature Star Pizza.
